How to Draw Cartoons

Now with Christmas behind us and new year to look forward to we thought we'd start working on a request we've had for a while now - a better look at how to draw cartoons. There's really a lot to this style so we plan to break it down and look at it piece by piece. To start of with we've got some great videos from EV on the basics and getting those cartoon facial expressions down. The how to draw cartoons guides should help budding artists looking at a cartoon style for their art or webcomics.

Hope everyone had a great christmas and is looking forward to the new year! Our new resolution? More frequent drawing guides and get our complete how to draw cartoons series finished soon!

How to Draw Faces

Well I don't think anyone really expected it (I know we certainly didn't) but we actually managed to get a post up on Christmas eve! Granted, it's a small one with a few video links but hey - the contents there and it's Christmas. So we had some requests to look at how to draw faces since our looks previously have been a little specific into certain styles.

Hope you guys enjoy and I hope you have a great Christmas! I'm not running late to go and watch it's a wonderful life at this lovely old cinema. Merry Christmas!

Learning How to Draw People

The internet is a pretty big place and obviously we are not the only website which offers to teach people how to draw people. The one thing which sets us apart, other than the fact we source the best video guides and give out free ebooks, is that we'd rather actually teach people how to draw. There are sites out there which show people step by step how to draw a specific person or action but you don't really learn that much from this. We'd rather teach someone how to actually draw a person or character and then work with their poses or actions.

When I first personally started learning I just started to draw people to see what would happen. After that I could apply different actions and scenarios because I knew how to actually draw people rather than just follow the instructions of someone else for each piece of work.

How to Draw Boobs

Now before anyone kicks off, we're not talking porn here. The female anatomy is an important thing to learn unless you want to rule out an entire gender from your artwork. We're doing our best to work through the backlog of requests and a lot of people seem to be having problems with proportions so we have a guide up on how to draw boobs

We try to cover the different styles to keep everyone happy, it's not an easy task considering there are so many ways to draw things so we settled for a basic cartoon and realistic guide. As always, the key to this is practice. The proportions are the hardest part to get right but there's nothing I can really suggest other than what is already in the videos. But the same way you learn proportions for everything else - just apply that here.

How to Draw Animals

We took a break today from the usual drawing people guides to get a guide out on how to draw animals. It might seem a little strange but hey - it's related and we got a lot of requests for it.

Because, just like the draw people guides, there are so many different techniques and styles for learning we took a quick look at the general ideas and different styles. It should be enough to get you started on those sketchpads today and we'll try to expand in more detail over the next few days. Be sure to take a look if it's something you're interested in!

We have a couple of new updates planned over the next few days but it's a busy time of year so just in case we don't get a chance to say it - Merry Christmas from the team at how to draw people. Hope it's a good one!

How to Draw People

Well we finally managed to get around to setting up a news blog for the how to draw people guides. It saves people having to go through signing up anywhere else or having to email us on the site.

We're now on several different networks so you can pick your fav and use that to keep up to date and get in contact with us.

We have:

The how to draw people posterous site.

The draw people tumblr site.

The drawing people blogger blog.

The how to draw people livejournal.

So you can use whichever suits your fancy. We'll update here as we update new guides on the site and we'll keep an eye on all the comments and messages on the networks so we're happy to take requests for guides here now. Sorry it took so long to get this done but better late than never right? :)
